Friendly Introduction to the TOEFL iBT

Are you preparing for your first
TOEFL iBT test?

Get confidence by studying online
with a “friendly-but-serious” introduction.

You need The Friendly Introduction to TOEFL iBT if…
  • … you eventually need scores of Reading 22, Listening 21, Speaking 26, and Writing 24.
  • … you never took the TOEFL iBT.
  • … you need more support than just self-studying
  • … you know watching a bunch of random YouTube videos from different tutors will lead to confusion.
  • … you aren’t ready for Jaime Miller’s more advanced classes or feedback yet.
  • … you need clear, professional information about how to study.

What’s the goal?

After studying with The Friendly Introduction, you’ll be ready to take your first TOEFL iBT test and get official information about your scores. At that point, you’ll either be done… or you’ll know which of Jaime’s advanced classes are worth the investment.

What is included?

After you register, you will have access to the following 3 e-courses inside Jaime Miller’s website:

  • the workbook for The Friendly Introduction ← includes model responses for Speaking Task 1, 2, 3, 4 and both essays
  • Jaime’s video lectures
  • Delta’s Key (separately $35 but you pay $0) ← 10 chapters of Reading activities + 10 quizzes + 6 chapters of Listening activities + 8 quizzes = 34 practice activities
  • Right Notes (separately $67 but you pay $0) ← a 21-day program to develop your notetaking skills in English

How does it work?

After you pay, you’ll confirm your mailing address with us. We we mail the workbook for the Friendly Intro to your house…
After you pay, you also get an account on Jaime’s special website. With it, you will log in and access the video presentations and e-courses.

You can begin watching the video class recordings as soon as you want to. Alternatively, you can wait for your workbook to arrive in the mail, and then start watching.

After each class, there are specific recommendations of homework activities. You will choose the schedule for when to finish your activities. There’s no deadline or expiration date.

If you want to get Jaime’s feedback and advice on any Reading, Listening, Speaking or Writing activities, that will be an option that we can discuss for an extra cost.

a 30-minute Private Lesson with Jaime Miller
After Class 2, you choose a day and time from Jaime’s regular work schedule, Monday through Friday (8 AM to 4 PM, California time). The focus of this private lesson is to practice the concept of “Spaced Repetition” with all the flashcards and word lists that you have been collecting. As a result, you’ll be motivated to keep studying because you will have proof that that investing time and energy will lead to an improvement!

Class 3: Speaking
The focus of this class includes (but is not limited to)…

  • Observe realistic Speaking questions and answers for TOEFL iBT (Don’t worry! You don’t have to talk. It is fine for you to just watch and listen.)
  • Understand what the TOEFL Graders pay attention to when they give a score
  • How to organize your notes for Speaking Task 1, 2, 3 and 4 so that you’re more focused and calm while you listen to the conversation and lectures

Your homework will include 60 minutes of meaningful speaking opportunities that you can do at home every day — even if you don’t have anyone to speak English with.

Class 4: Writing
The focus of this class includes (but is not limited to)…

  • Observe realistic Writing prompts and answers for TOEFL iBT (Don’t worry! You don’t have to write yet. It is fine for you to just watch and listen.)
  • Understand what the TOEFL Graders pay attention to in your essays
  • How to organize your notes for the Integrated essay so that you are more focused when you write your essays

Your homework will include writing high-scoring model essays for TOEFL iBT.

Jaime recommends you spend 1-2 hours per day for 2-3 months to develop the familiarity that will make you confident to take the real TOEFL iBT test for the first time.

a 30-minute Consultation with Jaime
After you take your first TOEFL iBT test, you will have a private meeting with Jaime Miller in Zoom. The goal is to either celebrate that you’re done with TOEFL iBT, or discuss the logical next steps, considering your scores.
